The late Punjabi Hip-Hop superstar Sidhu Moose Wala’s third posthumous rap record “Mera Na” has debuted on the Billboard Canadian Hot 100 Chart. Featuring Nigerian rap pioneer Burna Boy and Punjabi Hip-Hop superproducer Steel Banglez, the record stands tall at the 14th spot on the highly coveted Billboard chart.
Moose Wala released his highly anticipated posthumous single “Mera Na” on April 7th 2023. The song, which marks an abrupt departure from Moose Wala’s signature gangsta rap records, was teased numerous times by Banglez since October last year.
However, the ‘PBX1’ emcee confirmed the record’s release on social media, administered by his father Balkaur Singh, just ahead of digital distribution. Read everything about Moose Wala’s third posthumous single in our report.
The record is released alongside a hard-hitting visual treatment. Directed by Punjabi Hip-Hop’s influential filmmaker Navkaran Brar, the video portrays Moose Wala’s unprecedented influence on rap music even after his ill-fated death. The music video consists of a montage of remembrance and tributes for Moosa including one by the ‘Her Loss‘ emcee and OVO bossman Drake.
Notably, this isn’t the first time that Punjabi Hip-Hop artists have charted on the Billboard chart. Earlier this year, Badshah‘s debut collaborative effort with Karan Aujla “Players” debuted on the Billboard chart.
Karan Aujla has consistently secured top spots on the Billboard Canadian Hot 100 chart for numerous rap records including the “Four You” EP and “On Top”. With the Punjabi emcee gearing up for his full-length album this summer, Aujla looks set to secure more top spots on Billboard.
