Hykeem Jamaal Carter Jr. has finally announced his sophomore album. The upcoming LP, which is yet to receive its title, tracklist and artwork, was announced by Keem during his headlining set at Osheaga Festival in Quebec, Canada.
The hard-hitting rapper released his infectious debut rap album “The Melodic Blue” in September 2021. The 16-track rap record is home to numerous West Coast Classics including “range brothers” and “family ties” featuring Keem’s cousin and pgLang affiliate Kendrick Lamar, “durag activity” featuring Houston’s Travis Scott and “cocoa” featuring Don Toliver.
During his raging live set, which witnessed a guest performance by Lamar too, “2 Phone” revealed his plans for a sophomore album. “New album coming soon mother——-,” Keem said to a massive crowd in Canada.
Keem’s announcement arrives amidst JPEGMafia’s incendiary diss against ‘2 Phone’ on “Scaring The Hoes: DLC Pack”. Released in collaboration with Danny Brown, Mafia reportedly dissed Keem and asserted that much of his success is owed to his cousin Kendrick Lamar.
“Bitch, I ain’t Baby Keem, my cousin ain’t gave me shit,” Mafia rapped at the time.
Most recently, Keem linked up with Lamar on “The Hillbillies”. Produced by EVILGIANE, the rap record featured a guest appearance by Tyler, The Creator on the track’s visual treatment.
