New York City’s iconic emcee and songwriter Joey Bada$$, born Jo-Vaughn Virginie Scott, released his first single this year. Titled “Passports & Suitcases”, the single is produced by record production trio boysarerolling, which includes members Miles Sugarman, Crosby Spagnoli and Arno Sugarman, and features a guest verse by Kaycyy.
Notably, the track is an abrupt departure from the “Pro Era” founder’s classic East Coast Hip-Hop records and forays into R&B. For Bada$$, the single arrives nearly a month after he featured on the “Shook Up” single by Erick The Architect and FARR.
Ahead of the single, Bada$$ shared the exclusive “Passports & Suitcases” artwork with his fans via Instagram. Check it out below.
While “Passports & Suitcases” furthers Joey Bada$$’s remarkable run of releasing flagrant rap records, it arrives amidst a brief hiatus by Kaycyy.
For the marquee emcee, singer and songwriter Kaycyy, the single serves as the follow-up to “My Jeans”. At the time, Kaycyy was jolted by Travis Scott’s decision to not credit him on the Kanye West-produced record “THANK GOD” on his fourth studio album “Utopia”.
While “My Jeans” single was far from a diss, its artwork referenced Scott not crediting him on the hard-hitting track.
