Last summer, Nas’ marquee label Mass Appeal India joined forces with three influential Southern Rap artists Vedan, Dabzee & Baby Jean. The coveted record label has now partnered with ThirumaLi – another breakthrough emcee from Kerala.
The disruptive partnership, which arrives within days after the Mumbai-based label signed Punjab’s rising underground rapper Jaskaran to its iconic roster of artists, was first announced by Mass Appeal India just hours ahead of releasing British emcee Raf-Saperra’s debut EP “5 Deadly Venomz” earlier today.
The flagrant project features lethal guest verses by BET “Lyricist of The Year” nominee and legendary N.Y. emcee Conway The Machine, Harlem’s Nas prodigy Dave East, Big Boy Bes and Punjabi singer Japjeet Sandhu.
Notably, the “ThirumaLism” rapper and songwriter linked up with another major label Def Jam Recordings India last year. At the time, the iconic emcee joined forces with Dabzee, Fejo & Thudwiser and Hanumankind, Parimal Shais & MC Couper on “Sambar” and “Ayyayyo” singles respectively.
The Southern Hip-Hop trailblazers Baby Jean, ThirumaLi, Dabzee and Vedan now gear up for their massive Mass Appeal debut.
Culture Haze spoke to Mass Appeal India about the 4th massive signing of Southern artists.
“ThirumaLi & the rest of the emcees are the best of the best in India right now. The relationship with him goes way back and he has been putting out incredible music for many many years. I, and the incredible folks at Mass Appeal India are stoked to provide ThirumaLi with his well-deserved flowers and our push,” Ranbir “KPR” Kapoor, Senior A&R at Mass Appeal India said.
“Partnering with ThirumaLi is part of my sincere endeavour to break through the language barrier. We just did it with Raf-Saperra’s “5 Deadly Venomz” featuring Griselda’s finest Conway The Machine and Dave East,” he said further.
Besides major back-to-back partnerships and Raf-Saperra’s flagrant EP, Mass Appeal India joined forces with Indian rap superstars Divine & Karan Aujla on the “Street Dreams” album.
The massive rap record, produced by numerous Hip-Hop royalties including Grammy-winning record producers Allen Ritter and Boi-1Da, Wondagurl, Harry Fraud & more, was preceded by KSHMR‘s historic rap record “Karam”.
Look out for ThirumaLi’s Mass Appeal debut this year.
