Majha, Punjab’s influential rapper, record producer and songwriter Wazir Patar has released his new record. Titled “Suneya Main”, the hard-hitting track is Patar’s abrupt foray into R&B and adds to Wahzir’s sprawling discography of pure gangsta rap and Punjabi pop.
Notably, “Suneya Main” is Patar’s third massive release this year. The record serves as the follow-up to “The Last Ride” producer’s iconic gangsta rap EP “Back To Skool”. The 5-track rap album is home to cult classics including “Hustle Evuryday”, “Bold And Brave”, “Hussan Illahi”, “Ind-Suzuki” and “E-mail” and was preceded by Patar’s Punjabi pop record “Some Memories”.
“Suneya Main” expands Patar’s affecting discography at an unprecedented scale. While the young emcee redefined Punjabi gangsta rap through ruthless record production on Sidhu Moose Wala‘s “GOAT” and “Malwa Block” from the latter’s third and final studio album “Moosetape”, Patar made his first major label debut with the “Keep It Gangsta” EP.
Released through India’s coveted rap record label Def Jam Recordings India, Patar put forth his unapologetic gangsta rap built from scratch by himself.
Ahead of “Suneya Main”, Patar released an exclusive preview of the record. You can watch it here.
“Suneya Main” and Patar’s three self-produced EPs have stirred far-reaching conversations for, perhaps, a sophomore album. While Patar linked up with Majha affiliates on the star-studded debut “Sanu Dekhda Zamana” in 2020, he is yet to drop its follow-up.
The rapper’s consistent multi-track projects, guest verses and the latest single might just pave the way for a full-length album this year.
Wazir Patar’s latest single arrives amidst high anticipation for “Chorni” by Indian Hip-Hop royalty Divine. Featuring a guest verse by Sidhu Moose Wala, the record is slated to drop anytime this week.
Patar, who is often considered a protégé of Moosa, has remembered the late emcee numerous times alongside Divine. In fact, Patar pulled up at Divine’s “Gunehgar Album Launch Concert“ last year and paid his tributes to the legendary “Mera Na” rapper.
The single is released alongside an affecting visual treatment directed by Gurjant Panesar. Check it out below if you haven’t yet.
