Griselda’s iconic emcee and founder of the Black Soprano Family Benny The Butcher, born Jeremie Damon Pennick, has released his debut album with Def Jam Recordings.
Titled “Everybody Can’t Go”, the LP is Butcher’s studio album and arrives amidst turbulent times for Griselda with his brother and Griselda affiliate Westside Gunn threatening to quit rap music and Butcher’s turbulent shortlived deal with Shady Records.
For his 4th studio album, Butcher has recruited various rap royalties including West Coast Hip-Hop pioneer Snoop Dogg, rap mogul Lil Wayne, Griselda affiliates Westside Gunn & BET ‘Lyricist of The Year’ Nominee Conway The Machine, Armani Caesar, Kyle Banks, Steve God Cooks, Jadakiss, Babyface Ray and Rick Hyde.
Notably, the LP is produced by two marquee superproducers only – Hit-Boy and The Alchemist.
Ahead of the album, Butcher shared the exclusive tracklist of his massive Def Jam debut via Meta. At the time, the “Oprah & Gayle” rapper reminisced about his earlier days in rap music and spoke about how “a lot people who started with me or played a part ain’t make it.”
“I took the long way and a lot people who started with me or played a part ain’t make it. Some dead or in prison some took other paths or some just wasn’t built for it,” Butcher said.
No matter how meaningful or irrelevant the role was that they played they all feel entitled in some way. I know I’m not the only in this position but when it’s millions, fame, clout, jealousy & envy in the picture it’s DANGEROUS.”
“Everybody Can’t Go” LP arrives alongside an incendiary sophomore visual treatment from the project for “Back Again” featuring Snoop Dogg.
Besides “Back Again” and “BRON”, the LP is further home to 10 further provocative song titles including “Big Dog”, “TMVTL”, “Griselda Express”, “Buffalo Kitchen Club”, “One Foot In” and more.
