Punjabi gangsta rap pioneer and the former protégé of Sidhu Moose Wala Wazir Patar has released his latest EP “Back To Skool”. Featuring just one guest verse by Jeona Sandhu on “Ind Suzuki”, the hard-hitting five-track project is produced and written by Patar himself.
Released through Punjabi Hip-Hop & Pop’s highly coveted label Speed Records, Patar has released five new tracks through the EP – “Hustle Evuryday”, “Bold and Brave”, “Husan Illahi”, “Ind Suzuki” and “Email”.
Ahead of its official release, Patar visited South London and reportedly worked on visual treatments and its artwork in Britain. The young emcee, who rose to prominence through his hard-hitting record productions on the late Sidhu Moose Wala‘s “The Last Ride” and “Malwa Block”, released his Def Jam solo debut “Keep It Gangsta” last year.
At the time, Patar established his stature as one of the finest emcees on the come-up and performed at massive venues across India. The “Back To Skool” is a follow-up to that solo endeavour and marks Patar’s long-awaited return to Gangsta Punjabi rap.
However, besides the affecting Punjabi rap music, the EP features pop records on the EP too. This is in tandem with Patar’s deft curation on “Keep It Gangsta” as the EP became eponymous with Patar’s over-arching musicality and diverse sound.
