Punjabi Hip-Hop superstar Shubh continues to raze through Billboard charts with his debut album “Still Rollin”. The emcee, who dropped his highly anticipated 7-track Punjabi rap record in May, has debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 Canada with the album’s lead single.
Notably, the recognition on Billboard Hot 100 Canada arrives within days after the entire album forayed into Billboard Canada’s Album Chart on June 1 2023.
Currently, the ‘Still Rollin’ single stays firm at the 40th spot and has surpassed major label releases including “America Has A Problem (Remix)” by Beyoncé & Kendrick Lamar, “War Bout It” by Lil Durk & 21 Savage and more.
The young rapper, whose debut album had an extremely meagre start after surpassing a billion streams with just six rap records ahead of it, seems to be recovering from the unprecedented plummet in streaming numbers.
As reported earlier, Shubh’s album rollout has been mired by controversial copyright violations. Within a week after Shubh released his debut album, Punjabi Hip-Hop record producer Thiara alleged that the young rap pioneer has released “Dior” without his consent.
The accusations further impacted Shubh’s falling streaming numbers with the track removed from YouTube Music. In fact, the “OG” music video has been taken down by YouTube since then too.
With such fatal accusations by Thiara, copyright violations and the pre-existing hate speech against Shubh for his stance during the Amritpal Singh row, “Still Rollin” hit Shubh’s reputation as the most influential emcee in global rap.
