Pop and R&B superstar The Weeknd, born Abel Makkonen Tesfaye, has released his sophomore collaborative effort with Atlanta’s legendary rapper and business mogul Lil Baby. Titled “False Idols”, the song will be featured on The Weeknd, Reza Fahim and Sam Levinson-created drama series “The Idol” and is produced by Mike Dean & Weeknd himself.
Notably, “False Gods” further features a guest appearance by American film actress Suzanna Son and arrives amidst a slew of consistent releases by the “Dawn FM” singer.
Ever since “The Idol” premiered on HBO on June 4th, 2023, The Weeknd has released numerous alternative pop records with Mike Dean including “The Lure”, “Family”, “Lesser Man”, “Take Me Back”, “Fill The Void” featuring Ramsay and Lil-Rose Depp, “Jealous Guy” and “One of The Girls” featuring K-Pop superstar JENNIE.
However, “Popular” still remains the most popular record from the soundtrack. Featuring a guest appearance by Hip-Hop’s cult figure Playboi Carti and pop superstar Madonna.
As reported earlier, The Weeknd first previewed the record during ‘The Idol’ premier at the Cannes Festival in France last week. Appearing alongside Lily-Rose Depp and Levinson, the legendary singer previewed the single with Carti‘s verse which left the world in shock.
Notably, this is the third collaborative effort between The Weeknd and Lil Baby. The last time The Weeknd and Baby linked up on a record was on August 29th, 2021. Baby and the “Creepin” singer first teamed up on “Hurricane” – the 5th rap record on Kanye West‘s tenth studio album “Donda”.
