Punjab’s hard-hitting emcee on the come-up tricksingh, born Tirath Sandhu, has just premiered his sophomore rap record with Def Jam Recordings India. The young rapper, who recently premiered two independent singles “Lowkey” and “Samjh Na Aundi”, has linked up with marquee Indian record producer NDS on “Labda Firaan”.
Singh’s latest single is an abrupt departure from his signature choppa flow over slick basslines & snares and dives into NDS’ evocative melodic synths and deftly curated autotune. However, with the release of the Eyepatch-produced single, Singh perhaps hinted at his forthcoming sound.
Whether “Labda Firaan” will have its exclusive visual treatment is yet to be confirmed by the rapper or Def Jam Recordings India.
In June this year, Tricksingh made his major label debut with Def Jam Recordings India. The Punjabi emcee and songwriter, recognised for his affecting rap records “Welcome To Class”, “tricksinghflow” and “Desh Ki Awaaz”, premiered the Xistence-produced single “Shor” at the time.
With the latest single, Def Jam Recordings India continues to pave the way for young emcees and record producers on the come-up.
Across this year, numerous Hip-Hop artists have made their sprawling debuts with the Mumbai-based record label including Pune’s ruthless emcee Sambata, Delhi’s Chaar Diwaari, Kodaikanal’s Irfana Hameed, Punjab’s GD 47 and Ellde Fazilka, Thug Sangathan’s Aghor, and Delhi’s rap superstar Paradox.
Most recently, Def Jam linked up with J Trix on the “I Wish” single – the third single from his forthcoming “Middle Class Boys” EP with the record label.
