British Punjabi emcee, record producer and songwriter Raf-Saperra, born Adeel Sardar Khan, has released his marquee “Love Letter to Underground East Coast Hip-Hop & Punjabi Folk Music”. Titled “5 Deadly Venomz”, the sprawling rap record is a historic concoction of Punjabi, London, Harlem & New York and arrives through Nas’ coveted record label Mass Appeal India.
First announced by Saperra in November last year amidst a historic partnership with Mass Appeal, the evocative “5 Deadly Venomz” EP features guest verses by BET “Lyricist of The Year” nominee and legendary N.Y. emcee Conway The Machine, Harlem’s Nas prodigy Dave East, Big Boy Bes and Punjabi singer Japjeet Sandhu.
As per Saperra, the “5 Deadly Venomz” EP is produced by Taj Aulakh & Bobby Kang.
Reportedly, the flagrant EP traverses 5 East Coast Hip-Hop records – “Rolling Thunder” alongside Machine, “Hood Harvest” alongside East & Big Body, the previously released lead single “Ranjha”, “Venomz Boliya” and “Off Endz”
“We ain’t playing games. When I say Imma give you a lot of Hip-Hop, I ain’t talking about this bubble gum pop shit the scene is listening to. IMA GIVE YOU HIP HOP,” the “Ruff Around The Edges” emcee says about the EP.
And it shows.
Ahead of his brief yet affecting rap record, Saperra paid homage to homage to Big L by remixing Gang Starr’s historic tribute record for the legendary East Coast rapper “Full Clip”.
For Mass Appeal India, the “5 Deadly Venomz” EP arrives within nearly a month after the influential record label joined forces with Indian rap superstars Divine & Karan Aujla on the “Street Dreams” album.
