Indian Hip-Hop superproducer Phenom has just announced his debut full-length album. The Mumbai-based TDO and Gully Gang affiliate, oftentimes referred to as ‘The Don’, most recently linked up with KSHMR on “Haath Varthi” assisting the “Karam” record producer alongside Indian rap superstar MC Stan.
Phenom is one of the many rap superproducers across the globe gearing up for a full-length rap record. On May 19, London-based drill and rap superproducer Steel Banglez dropped his debut LP “The Playlist”. With a runtime of over an hour and fifteen minutes, the album features hard-hitting guest verses by numerous British rap pioneers including Giggs, Tion Wayne, Burna Boy, Clean Bandit, Aitch, Asco, Blade, Mo Stack, Chip, King Promise and the late Indian Hip-Hop superstar Sidhu Moose Wala.
Besides Banglez’s debut album, Metro Boomin is gearing up for the “Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse” original motion picture soundtrack on June 2. Boomin’s OST LP will be followed by joint albums with Future and JID releasing later this year. Notably, Future has reportedly been in the studio with Zaytoven on “Beast Mode 3” album.
Earlier this month, KSHMR gave the legendary producer his flowers during an exclusive interview with our publication.
“ofcourse, Phenom… he’s like a master of the Bollyfunk sound and so, for ‘Haath Varthi’, I asked him if he would help me produce it because I knew if he did those drums, they would feel authentic and that would be right. So, yeah, he did things with the drums that I look at and think that I would have never thought to do that… the timing of them being sort of early and off the grid. That was very surprising to me. But when it works, it works,” KSHMR said at the time.

Over the years, Phenom has risen to unprecedented prominence in Indian rap music. Besides “Haath Varthi”, Phenom led the record production on “Akela” – the 10th track on Divine‘s third LP “Gunehgar”.
Given his influence in rap music across India, a massive star-studded rap record can’t be ruled out. ‘The Don’ is yet to reveal further details about the debut album.
Look out for Phenom’s debut album this year.
