Atlanta’s legendary record producer Metro Boomin, born Leland Tyler Wayne, and Dreamville’s fierce emcee JID, born Destin Choice Route, are gearing up for a debut collaborative LP. Earlier today, the global rap pioneers linked up in Boominati Worldwide‘s studio in Atlanta and confirmed that a joint album is ‘in the works’ through a slew of tweets and replies.
Notably, the announcement arrives amidst Metro Boomin and ATL’s ‘superhero’ emcee Future confirming a joint LP earlier this year. While Boomin has worked with Future via numerous guest verses and record productions, this would be his first full-length endeavour with the ‘I Never Liked You’ emcee since their 2014 “Monster” mixtape.
Apart from the joint album, Boomin and JID have had extraordinary individual rap careers in recent times. The young superproducer is fresh off his sophomore “Heroes & Villains” LP.
Released in December last year, the wildly successful fifteen-track record features guest appearances by Future, Chris Brown, John Legend, Travis Scott, Don Toliver, 21 Savage, Young Nudy, The Weeknd, A$ap Rocky, Takeoff and Gunna. After the release, the LP debuted at the top spot on Billboard Top 200 and left a lasting impact on rap music across the world.
JID has been releasing far-reaching rap music since his debut live set in India. Most recently, the ‘Surround Sound’ rapper linked up with the Dreamville crew on ‘Creed III’ original motion picture soundtrack.
Further, JID is gearing up for his highly anticipated live set at the Dreamville Fest. Headlined by North Carolina’s legendary emcee and record producer J. Cole and the ‘Her Loss’ rap superstar Drake, JID will be joining Lil Durk, Key Glock, Burna Boy and more during the Raleigh-bred Rap festival.
Look out for Metro Boomin and JID’s debut album this year.
