Breaking: Sidhu Moose Wala Announces New Single ‘Mera Na’ Featuring Burna Boy and Steel Banglez

The legendary Hip-Hop superstar Sidhu Moose Wala has announced his third posthumous single. Titled “Mera Na”, the record will feature a guest verse by Burna Boy and Steel Banglez and will be released alongside a long-awaited visual treatment. Directed by Nav Brar, the visuals are slated to drop on April 7th 2023.

Notably, Steel Banglez has been teasing the late Moose Wala’s collaborative effort for a long time. Banglez, who has previously worked with Moose Wala on ’47’ alongside Stefflon Don and Birmingham’s MIST, first teased the record last year in October. Far-reaching rumours about Moose Wala’s posthumous music were doing rounds across social media at the time.

The ‘Banglez Ting’ emcee teased the record drop with Moose Wala again in December. The UK-based producer confirmed that ‘Mera Na’ alongside Burna Boy will certainly drop if he “gets 1 million likes” on a post that now stands deleted.

The late Hip-Hop pioneer took to social media, administered by his father Balkaur Singh, to reveal the exclusive artwork for the upcoming rap record. You can check it out here.

Steel Banglez announced the single on his social media with an affecting message. The rapper reminisced about his studio session with Moose Wala and how he’ll “never forget” what Moose Wala told him.

My dearest brother Sidhu Moose Wala and I remember when we first recorded this song at my studio and you told me I would never forget it. At the time I didn’t understand what you meant by that, but now myself and the whole world will know. Me and your brother the African giant @burnaboygram made this our priority to get “Mera Na” out worldwide in loving memory for you, your family and the fans. I feel so blessed and honoured to have two of the biggest icons in the world on one record together. Fusing two cultures to create the monster record that is “Mera Na” (Your Name Lives Forever).” Banglez wrote.

In November, Steel Banglez and Burna Boy visited Sidhu Moose Wala’s home in Mansa, Punjab. The artists met Moose Wala’s parents and revealed the rap record. “Sidhu we miss you, we spent time with mum and dad. me and Burna Boy finished the song you started.” Banglez wrote next to pictures of him and Burna Boy with his parents.

Sidhu Moosewala was and continues to be one of the biggest hip-hop artists to emerge from India and has worked with numerous artists on top-selling rap records. Providing a sound that’s affecting and ghetto, the young emcee rose to global stardom with his music before he was shot dead in May last year.

Moosewala’s studio albums ‘PBX1’ and the star-studded ‘Moosetape’ were two of the biggest-selling records in global rap history. With a strong line-up of guest appearances from Divine, Tion Wayne, Stefflon Don, Rajakumari and more, as per many, Moosewala elevated the Indian hip-hop scene like no other through the album. Notably, this will be Moose Wala’s debut collaborative effort with Burna Boy.

While Sidhu Moose Wala awaits justice, Jagwinderjit Singh Grewal, the Senior Superintendent of Tran Taran district, Punjab confirmed that at least two accused in Moose Wala’s murder were killed during a scuffle in Goindwal Sahib Central Jail in February this year.

Mandeep Singh alias Toofan and Manpreet Singh alias Mani Rayya were arrested last year from Amritsar. As per the chargesheet, both of them were the main shooters of the Jaggu Bhagwanpuria gang.

As per the police report, Toofan & Rayya were assigned the infamous responsibility to murder Moose Wala in cold blood. However, the accused failed to do so amidst tight security around the Hip-Hop pioneer at all times.

Mohna, another accomplice in Moose Wala’s murder conducted the recce of Moose Wala in January and February last year. The Mansa-born rapper was shot on May 29th 2022 and died on spot.

Look out for Sidhu Moose Wala’s third posthumous record ‘Mera Na’ featuring Steel Banglez and Burna Boy on April 7th 2023.
