Punjabi Hip-Hop/Rap’s influential rapper and songwriter AP Dhillon, real name Amritpal Singh Dhillon, has finally released his new single. Titled “Sleepless”, AP’s latest Punjabi rap record is released alongside hard-hitting visuals directed by marquee Hip-Hop filmmaker Spike Jordan.
The affecting music video captures Dhillon’s avant-garde rap life which involves female galore, Bugattis and Audemars Piguet timepieces. The Punjabi rap superstar, who most recently linked up with Shinda Kahlon on “True Stories”, finds himself lonely amidst Porsches and people.
Notably, AP’s incendiary single arrives just ahead of his sprawling headlining debut with Don Toliver at the “Summerhigh Fest”. The record, penned down by Shinda Kahlon, arrives after two minimalist previews with one capturing the “GOAT” recording the flagrant single and the other involving a visual preview of “Sleepless”.
As reported earlier, Spike Jordan has filmed some of the most influential rap music videos of our times including “idk anymore” by Gunna from the “a Gift & a Curse” LP, “Lord Knows” by Meek Mill, “Wave Gods” by Nas, A$ap Rocky & DJ Premier, “Drip Too Hard” by Gunna & Lil Baby and more.
Later this year, AP Dhillon is slated to drop another rap record with U.K. Rap superproducer Steel Banglez too. During a recent sit-down with Rolling Stones, the “Playlist” producer confirmed two rap records – a single with AP Dhillon and a sophomore rap record “Attached” with Sidhu Moose Wala. Banglez further hinted at new music with Punjabi Hip-Hop superstar Shubh and Indian Rap Royalty Divine.
Besides Dhillon, his ‘Run-Up Records’ affiliate Gurinder Gill premiered his debut album “Hard Choices” in June.
Notably, “Sleepless” arrives in an exclusive partnership with Mass Appeal India & AP’s Run-Up Records. Besides “True Stories” and AP’s latest single now, the coveted label signed an exclusive record agreement with Mumbai’s rap star Nazz and dropped “Gully Ka Sher”.
Further, the label is gearing for Kshmr‘s debut Hip-Hop LP “Karam” which reportedly features MC Stan, Seedhe Maut, Hanumankind, rap superproducer Phenom & more.
Last year, Mass Appeal India linked up with Indian Hip-Hop royalty Divine for his third LP “Gunehgar”. Released in November, the impact of the star-studded album is felt across Indian rap music to this day.
