Amidst an unprecedented rise in his influence over global rap music, Afro Rap superstar Burna Boy, born Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu MFR, has become the first rap artist of African descent to shut down a UK stadium.
Performing as part of his ‘Love, Damini’ tour, which arrives after the release of his top-selling sixth studio album “Love Damini”, Boy sold out the 80,000-capacity London stadium and performed some of his most influential rap records and an unreleased single with J Hus.
The legendary rapper, who recently linked up with the late Hip-Hop pioneer Sidhu Moose Wala on “Mera Na”, brought out Afro rap royalties J Hus, Stormzy, Dave and Popcaan.
The hard-hitting emcee linked up with Hus and performed the latter’s unreleased rap record “Toxic Acid Children” from his upcoming third LP “Don’t Say Militancy”. Besides the highly anticipated rap record, Boy performed 33 records across four live well-curated acts – “Welcome”, “Sexy Section”, “Bring It Down” and “Let’s Party”.
Across the four acts, Burna performed some of his most influential Afro-rap hits with his distinct blend of Afrobeats with pop, dancehall, hip-hop and R&B influences.
The set list included his towering rap records including “Gbona/Odogwu”, “Don Gorgon”, “Yawa Dey”, “Toni-Ann Singh” with Popcaan, “Location/Onyeka” with Dave, “For My Hand”, “Killin Dem”, “Mera Na”, “Ye” and “Last Last”.
