Drake & 21 Savage’s iconic collaboration album “Her Loss” has won the prestigious “Album of The Year” trophy at BET Hip Hop Awards 2023. Presented by the Black Entertainment Television on October 3 the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Center in Atlanta, the honour arrives amidst 50 Years of Hip-Hop.
For “Album of The Year”, the 16-track effort beat out numerous Hip-Hop records including Lil Uzi Vert’s “Pink Tape” LP, “Heroes & Villains” by Metro Boomin, “Jackman” by Jack Harlow, “Coi” by Coi Leray, “Traumazine” by Megan Thee Stallion, “God Did” by DJ Khaled and “Anyways” by GloRilla.
Released in November last year, “Her Loss” is home to various rap records and just one feature by Travis Scott.
Produced by rap royalties Metro Boomin, Noah “40” Shebib”, Tay Keith, FNZ, Lil Yachty, Bob-1Da, Wheezy Outta Here & more, the flagrant LP features 16 provocative titles including “Spin Bout U”, “Circo Loco”, “Broke Boys”, “Jumbotron Shit Poppin”, “Hours In Silence” and “Rich Flex”.
“Her Loss” moved over a massive 400,000 copies in its first week and debuted at the top spot on Billboard Top 200 at the time. Through the massive debut, Drake matched Jay-Z’s historic record for the highest number of top-charting LPs on the Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop albums with 14 such entries.

For Drake, the award arrives amidst the storming release of 8th studio album “For All The Dogs”. As per Vibe magazine, the star-studded album is projected to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard Top 200 this week.
The star-studded 22-track album features Drizzy’s former girlfriend SZA on two rap records – previously released “Slime You Out“ and “Rich Baby Daddy” alongside Sexyy Red, Bad Bunny, J. Cole, Yeat, Chief Keef, OVO-affiliate PARTYNEXTDOOR, Lil Yachty, 21 Savage, Teezo Touchdown & more.

In June this year, BET honoured “outstanding achievements in music, film, television, and sports.”
At the ceremony, the legendary New York emcee Busta Rhymes, born Trevor George Smith Jr., was honoured with the “BET Lifetime Achievement Award” – a feat which he now shares with Sean “Diddy” Combs, Prince, Whitney Houston and Hollywood’s top-tier African American Actor Samuel L. Jackson.
Further, Drake was nominated for a massive 7 times, including “Best Male Hip-Hop Artist,” “Best Male R&B/Pop Artist,” “Album of the Year” and more.
