The unprecedented news arrives within hours after the streaming platform released its “Spotify Wrapped 2023”. Reportedly, Moosa is the only emcee in the Top 10 list of most-streamed artists in India this year.
The legendary rapper was killed just over a year after the album’s provocative release on May 16th, 2021. Moose Wala, who was shot dead in Mansa, Punjab last year, continues to be remembered across the globe for, perhaps, the most influential Indian Hip-Hop record “Moosetape”.
“295” – the 30th track on the iconic LP – posthumously charted at 154th position on the Billboard Global 200 chart and turned Moosa into a worldwide rap superstar.
Last week, Indian Hip-Hop superstar Badshah paid his historic tribute to Sidhu Moose Wala amidst his massive performance at Wembley Arena, in London.
Punjabi rap superstar Karan Aujla remembered Moosa at The Kris Fade Show. The “Making Memories” singer further expressed concerns over a certain faction of South Asia Hip-Hop seeking to “divide” him and Moosa.
During the brief conversation, Aujla asserted that people tend to misconstrue and even “tear apart” him and Moosa for “entertainment”. However, the Punjabi emcee said that “it’s not many of us who are doing this” at the highest level and “we are all in this together”.
As reported earlier, “For All The Dogs” rapper Drake has remembered Moose Wala at least 5 times.
Pop superstar and another legendary emcee Post Malone, U.K.’s iconic R&B singer and emcee Stefflon Don, Grammy-nominated rapper Raja Kumari, Burna Boy, Tion Wayne, MIST, Raftaar and Mumbai’s legendary “Chorni” emcee Divine have remembered Moosa in the past too.
Moose Wala continues to release numerous cult rap records since his controversial death.
Most recently, Moosa released “Watch Out” featuring Sikander Kahlon. Produced by MXRCI, the fourth posthumous single was preceded by huge tracks including “Chorni” featuring Divine and “Mera Na“ featuring Burna Boy. The towering rap records continue to leave an unprecedented impact on Indian Punjabi music.
